I have been tuning and repairing pianos since 2016. I first came across this path when teaching in-home piano lessons. Since I was the piano teacher, and regularly played the piano the student practiced on, I (and the student) were aware of all the quirks of the student's piano. Including being out of tune, sticky keys, dead keys and some keys not level with others. Often we would have to get through the lesson, while waiting for an appointment with a tuner to be scheduled.
It was then that piano tuning and repairs became of interest to me. Thinking it must not be too hard to open the piano up, and repair what's going on. Well, I was surprised! There are a lot of things going on inside the piano when you push a key. Years later, I have now tuned and repaired hundreds of pianos, helping piano students like those of mine, play on a good sounding and working instrument.
I've completed the at home course, Regulating Pianos "the Yamaha way" and the Randy Potter School of Piano Technology at home course. I've also been certified to install Dampp-Chaser's Piano Life Saver system, for controlling the humidity in a piano. I continue to apprentice and continue training with technician Bill Boulton.
